Padel Rules Explained Simply for Beginners

Padel Is Easier Than It Looks

Padel has fewer rules than tennis and is much easier to pick up. Most beginners struggle because rules are explained too technically.

Here’s the simple version.

Basic Scoring

Padel uses the same scoring as tennis:

  • 15, 30, 40, game

  • Best of 3 sets (usually)

No complicated variations needed when starting.

Serving Rules (Beginner-Friendly)

  • Serve underhand

  • Ball must bounce behind the service line

  • Serve diagonally

  • Ball must hit the ground before touching glass or fence

If the ball hits the net and lands in → replay.

Walls: What’s Allowed

  • Ball can hit your wall after bouncing

  • Ball cannot hit wall first before bouncing

  • You may hit the ball after it rebounds off your wall

Walls are part of the game — not obstacles.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to memorize every rule. Learn the basics, play, and the rest comes naturally.
